Beans, Kentucky Wonder
Organic, Non-GMO, Open-pollinated, Heirloom, Kentucky Wonder Pole Bean Seeds
Days to Maturity: 58 - 72
Looking for a high-producing, organic Pole Bean to grow in your garden? Look no further than the Kentucky Wonder. This multi-purpose heirloom pole bean originated just prior to the Civil War in the seed trade back in 1864, when it was introduced as the Texas Pole bean and later renamed "Old Homestead." In 1877, it was re-introduced as the Kentucky Wonder Pole bean.
It is known for its delicious, string-less, meaty pods and high yields. These beans are great for trellising or growing on poles, and they can produce a bountiful harvest of up to 8-inch pods. They are also disease-resistant and drought-tolerant, making them a great choice for any garden. Excellent served fresh or shelled; preserves well with canning or freezing and its perfect as a dried bean. Best while picked early in the harvest.
The Kentucky Wonder grows strong, even in hot climates. Ideally on trellises, poles and fences. Featuring heavy crops with a length of 9”, this vine will reach about five to seven feet maturing in about 58 – 72 days.
Use fresh for snap beans, or dry on vines for an excellent soup bean.
